Connections Counselling Ltd is run by James and Nina Rye who have been offering pre-marriage and marriage counselling since the mid-nineties. They have also edited pre-marriage and counselling books for other authors, as well as publishing books on pastoral issues.
Nina has an MA in Non-directive Play Therapy from the University of York and is
a registered Play Therapist with
BAPT
. As well as working with private clients, Nina also receives referrals from Adoption Agencies, Social Services, Schools, and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. Part of her work involving Filial Therapy is featured in the BBC Documentary series 'Child of Our Time'. James has also
undertaken training in Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) and
Transactional Analysis (TA). He has an MA in counselling from Nottingham University specialising in Couple Therapy. He is currently studying for a Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from the University of East Anglia.
Both James and Nina have undergone several hundred hours of training and
supervision of practice in order to achieve their counsellor accreditation from
ACC
(James, Level 2: C100897; Nina, Level 1: E101251). They are both currently
working towards counsellor accreditation at Level 3, and adhere to ACC's Code
of Ethics and Professional Practice. As is the practice of all reputable
counsellors and therapists, James and Nina receive regular confidential
supervision from senior practitioners for their counselling and play therapy
work.
